Eligibility Criteria for the AVE:
1. Academic Qualifications:
- Candidates must hold a degree or diploma in veterinary science from a recognized institution. This institution must be listed in the AVMA ECFVG®-listed Veterinary Colleges of the World or the “World List of Universities.”
2. Professional Standing:
- Candidates should be registered, licensed, or eligible to be recognized as veterinarians in good standing in the country where they studied or worked.
3. English Language Proficiency:
- Non-native English speakers must demonstrate their English proficiency by passing one of the following tests with specified scores:
- Occupational English Test (OET): B pass or higher in each section.
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic): Minimum score of 7 in each section.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL-iBT): Minimum scores of 24 in Listening, 24 in Reading, 27 in Writing, and 23 in Speaking.
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): Minimum score of 65 in each of the four communicative sections.
Native English speakers from the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa are exempt from the English language assessment requirement but must provide supporting evidence.
Once assessed as eligible, candidates do not need to undergo the eligibility assessment again, provided they remain in contact with the AVE process.
